ONT, Before Wiring
Shot of the ONT before any of the wire connections were done.

The ONT (Optical Network Terminal) is basically the heart of fiber optic broadband. It provides connection for the fiber optic line, your existing household phone system, and an Ethernet jack for internet access.

The ONT is mounted on the exterior of your house, near your existing telephone network interface. Behind the actual ONT you see here is a cable housing, where excess fiber optic line is coiled and stored. Since fiber optic line can’t be bent beyond a certain angle without breaking, and because it’s not easy to install a connector on the end, I guess Verizon just provides lots of extra line, and a big enough box to coil it in without bending it too far.

Support Battalion

HUMPHREYS GARRISON — The Soldiers of the 194th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, with its varied companies, completed a field training exercise at Training Area Tom, Nov. 5 to 8.
The logistics Soldiers gathered their combat gear and reported to the arms room to retrieve their weapons and then moved to the motor pool to load the tactical vehicles in preparation to convoy to the training area. A quartering party directed companies swiftly and safely into their specified areas to construct the overall base defense and battalion Logistics Support Area.
The intent was to focus the battalion on the occupation and base defense plan for the establishment of a multifunctional LSA, according to Lt. Col. Todd J. Fish, battalion commander.
The LSA was secured with triple strands of concertina wire, while Mark 19 and .50 cals covered sectors of fire focused on key avenues of approach. Command and control was provided completely “unplugged” from garrison. A Combined Operational VSAT Network-Korea satellite terminal, as well as smaller VSAT systems, provided internet and DSN telephone connectivity. SINCGARS radios provided primary communication between company areas with TA 312 phones being used as an alternate, providing communication redundancy across the LSA to the Battalion Tactical Operation Center.
During the week-long training event the 348th Quartermaster Company conducted Reverse Osmosis Water Purification Unit (ROWPU) training. To do this, the Soldiers ran hoses into a local river and purified water, at 3,000 gallons per hour. Also, the 520th Maintenance Company conducted driver and recovery training, Defense Advanced GPS Receiver (DAGR) land navigation, and Night Vision Goggle training. The 61st Maint. Co. conducted driver and vehicle recovery training as well as crew served weapons and Night Vision Goggle training. The 46th Transportation Company conducted squad Situational Training Exercise lanes and SINCGARS Radio and Maneuver Control System communication training.

A voice actor essentially works harder than a Hollywood superstar. It’s real tough for him to show feelings and emotions while reading, fully knowing that he will not be seen on the screen. The voice actor must be able to empathize with the persona that he portrays and make sure that he breathes life into the script. It is in this realm where voice over training is essential.

Voice over training helps voice actors learn the craft and find gainful employment in a growing area. There are 1000s of cartoon and animated TV shows, web shows, TV/radio advertisements, web videos, and movies being made continually. Moreover, each movie/TV show has a cast of more than 20-30 characters. There are worldwide opportunities galore for a voice actor.

Voice over training course – the fundamental skills that you ought to possess

One of the most important tools of the trade is diction. The student must have perfect enunciation and for that reason must attend speech classes to get his diction properly. A voice talent would always have two roles to perform – the “acting,” and the “lending voice.” This means that getting a perfect diction is not enough to be able to join a voice over training, enrolling in an acting course is also necessary for the student.

What’s taught in a voiceover training course

Assessing and interpreting commercial copy for announcer and real-person roles are learned by the student. Interpreting narrative copy, as well as technical copy, are learned as well. The course educates the student how to efficiently coordinate mind, mouth and voice so that he can sound true to his character. The student also learns how to take direction.

A great voice actor training course makes students read, record, play back, listen, and then do it all over again until they get it right. Students warm-up and perform vocal exercises and learn techniques like timing, inflection, and articulation. They understand how to preserve their voice fitness. When students are already half-way into the voice over training course, they become competent at using and adjusting pitch, tone, volume and delivery speed to meet the needs of various types of jobs.

Once a student completes the training, he learns how to market his skills, tap proper contacts, and land voice over work. The course instructors also help them create a voice over demo for their portfolio. An opportunity to experience working in a real studio is provided in a solid voice over training course for students. They also learn what the do’s and don’ts are whenever they are behind the microphone or in a sound booth.

Choosing a voice over training program

There are two aspects to voice training. Students who are interested in selling must opt for a commercial voice over course. Commercial voice overs are employed for selling. Several of the areas that require this type of voice overs are radio ads, TV advertisements, phone and other media features. Selling skills are also covered by a voice over course since all commercial voice overs sell a service or a product. Acting skills are not dealt with by this course. If a student is interested in showbiz, then he should opt for dubbing and a movie or TV voice over course. Lip-synching is needed by such courses, hence, the voice over talent also needs to master acting skills.

To end, all the world’s a stage and we must play a part. So if you would like to be a voice actor, and you want to learn how to raise your voice, better enroll in a reputed voice actor training course.

It’s real tough for him to convey feelings and emotions while reading, fully knowing that he will not be seen on the screen. He must get into the skin of the character and pump life into the dialogues. This is where voice over training comes into play.
He also comes to understand how to interpret narrative copy and gets the hang of technical copy as well. The course teaches the student how to efficiently coordinate mind, mouth and voice so that he can sound true to his character. Taking direction is also learned by the student.

A great voice actor training course makes students read, record, play back, listen, and then do it repeatedly until they get it right. Students learn techniques such as inflection, timing and articulation. They perform warm-ups and vocal exercises as well. They figure out how to preserve their voice fitness. Half-way into the voice over training course, students become proficient at using and adjusting tone, pitch, delivery speed and volume for a selection of jobs.

After the main training is over, students learn how to market their skills, tap the appropriate contacts, and get voice over work. Instructors of the voice over program also assist them in creating a voice over demo, which would become part of their portfolio. A solid voice over training course provides students the opportunity to work in a real studio and understand what they must and shouldn’t do in a sound booth and when behind the microphone.

Selecting a voice over training course

There are two aspects to voice training. A commercial voice over course must be opted for by students who are interested in selling. Commercial voice talents are used for selling. Several of the areas that require this type of voice overs are radio ads, TV advertisements, phone and other media features. The voice over course also addresses selling skills because all commercial voice overs sell a product or a service. This program does not include acting skills. If a student is fascinated in showbiz, then he should opt for dubbing and a movie or TV voice over course. Such courses require lip-synching, and so the voice over actor has to learn acting skills too.

To conclude, all the world’s a stage and we must play a part. So, if you wish to play your part as a voice actor, enroll for a well-known voice actor training program and learn how to raise your voice.

The Cisco Unified IP Conference Station 7936 is an IP-based, hands-free conference room station that uses Voice over IP (VoIP) technology. The IP Conference Station replaces a traditional analog conferencing unit by providing business conferencing features—such as Call Hold, Call Resume, Call Transfer, Call Release, Call Pickup, Group Pickup, Redial, Mute, and Conference—over an IP network.
The Cisco Unified IP Conference Station 7936 features two outboard microphone jacks to enable the use of optional, external microphones. Along with its enhanced speaker design, the IP Conference Station is ideal for use in larger-sized conference rooms to facilitate conference calling. The Cisco Unified IP Conference Station 7936 can also be ordered without external microphones for use in smaller offices and conference rooms.

After some experimentation I finally got a pretty solid collection of things to bring on the road.

Not on the picture but also brought on most trips:

- Canon Eos 400D with 28mm f/1.8 EF lens (used to take this photo)
- X60 tablet power supply or MacBook Air power supply
- Kata SLR/laptop backpack which can contain the above

Question by A Yahoo! User: Can I have two VOIP telephone services on one broadband network/line?
My parents live with me and my family, and they have trouble understanding English when it comes to answering the phone. I suggested to them not to answer the phone, but they didn’t like that idea. I talked to my husband about this. He didn’t know the answer to this either. Our current telephone subscription is VOIP, and I want a second VOIP telephone line. Is this possible?

Best answer:

Answer by ddominic
The answer is of course it is possible. You would have to make sure that your router has enough ethernet plugs so that you can connected your VOIP devices to your router and your cordless phones to your VOIP devices. You can also connect with 2 different VOIP services if you like.

Question by FivePtsCalvin: What is a good small business telephone system?
I’m researching a good (cost vs quality) small business telephone system. Have any ideas?

The following features are a must:

- Transfer
- Intercom (between phones)
- Intercom (overhead speakers)
- Expandable up to at least 12 extensions (I’d like at least 15)

I’d *like* the following:

- Music on hold
- The ability to see which phones line are being used (or see what extensions are on the phone)
- Speed dial
- Ability to use external flash feature to transfer to outside phones (be able to flash the CO Line)

There’s no requirements on ease of setup– I’ll spend 300 hours if I need to put something good in. My budget is around $ 1500.

Any suggestions?

Best answer:

Answer by striderknight2000
Try a Nortstar keysystem probably be the closet to what your lookin for.

If you use one of these you might need to setup a seperate pageing system but that should still be with in budget. As far as phones they might run you a little more than what your expecting to pay.

What do you think? Answer below!
